Ellen DeGeneres hosted for her second time and it would be surprising if she was not asked back to host again. During her opening she provided the audience with belly laugh jokes that made Seth MacFarlane's jokes last year fall flat. DeGeneres joked about how Meryl Streep has been nominated so many times that she needs to stop being nominated because she has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on makeup and hair for Oscar night. Americas sweetheart, Jennifer Lawrence, was reminded of her fall last year when receiving her Oscar and how she fell on the red carpet this year. DeGeneres told Lawrence that if she wins this year that she will bring the statue to her. The joke that served up the most laughs was the final joke of the monologue in which DeGeneres said that there are so many possibilities that could happen. Possiblity number one is that "12 Years a Slave" wins best picture and possibility number two is that everyone is a racists. Relive the monologue below!
Pharrell Williams took the stage to preform his song that was in the running for Best Original Song in "Despicable Me 2". His song, "Happy," can make anyone get up and dance and he proved that when he he made his way down to the front row. Lupita Nyong'o, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams all stood up and danced with Williams. Streep took home the prize for dancing because she shimmied in front of Williams. As if the woman couldn't be anymore amazing.
