After Lohan completed her most recent stint in rehab, which was August 2013, cameras began to follow her as she began to rebuild her life in New York. The ringleader behind this production is Oprah Winfrey herself. After Lohan confessed to Oprah that she is an addict, good old Oprah told her that she wants to see her succeed, beat the addiction and that she wants to help her. Lohan then began to take control of her life and after eight years of living in Los Angles, she decided to move back home to New York City. Her journey of moving back to the city she grew up in and following how she is putting her life back together is documented in an eight part series, Lindsay, that is currently being shown on the OWN network.
To the public Lohan is nothing but a joke. She is viewed as someone who has gotten second chance, after second chance, after second chance and we have continuously seen her screw up. Lohan is well aware of that and that is why she agreed to do the documentary series. She wants to show people who she really is and what she is capable of.
The documentary has only been on the air for two weeks and in the time of those two weeks we have been able to get an inside look at Lohan's entourage as well as her crazy parents Dina and Michael Lohan. Lohan's entourage consists of her personal assistant who clearly hates his job, her sober coach, her driver and her life coach. As for her parents, Dina has already been arrested for a DUI and Michael has made an appearance only to cause more stress for Lindsay. This series is everything that you would expect from the Lohan family.
The thing about Lohan is that she is aware of her problems and she wants to fix them. After moving back to New York, her main problem was that she had no place to call her home. For most of her life, and during her party days, she lived in hotel rooms. A hotel room is the one place that Lindsay did not want to stay, but for the first month and a half of being back in New York that is where she was. It took her over 50 days to get the keys to her apartment due to lease and money issues. You would think that Lohan has no problem with putting money down for an apartment, or getting a car for her younger brother like she had promised, but she does not. Lohan does not have the big back account as you would expect. The production team for the documentary helped front a few checks to get the apartment for her.
The people who have all the money are the paparazzi that follow her day in and day out. The documentary takes a different look at Lohan's life and talks to a few paparazzi that follow her. Some hold up a beautiful watch and say, "Lindsay paid for this!" while others say that photos of Lohan do not go for much money at all and they would rather spend time trying to get a picture of another celebrity.
For the most part Lohan has her act together. Other times, however, we see just how unstable she can be. For instance, she promised a friend that she would help with a photoshoot. They agreed on a plan for the shoot, but when she arrived her friend changed up every plan. Lindsay broke down and began to fight with her friend because she felt that he lied to her and was taking advantage of her. Also, Lindsay is a stress smoker. Whenever there is a problem the girl is quick to pull out a quick cigarette and smoke the stress away.
For people who have followed the tornado that is Lindsay Lohan for all of these years, this documentary series is a breath of fresh air because we see an extremely tame Lohan. While she may have the qualities of the old Lindsay, you will find yourself rooting for her success and hoping that this is the wake up call that she needed.
