Fast forward a year and we arrived at the day Bachelor fans have waited for and I have to say, on behalf of all of us, the wedding left us with many mixed emotions.
We all know that Catherine and Sean were going to wait until their wedding night to get it on and that is okay. Should you test the car before you drive it? Possibly. These two decided to go the old fashion route which is refreshing in this day in age but Mr. and Mrs. Lowe, you guys took it too far. Not only were we reminded that you two have not done the deed yet, we were reminded about every five minutes in the two hour wedding special.
After watching this wedding I have decided that I would like Chris Harrison to narrate my wedding. During the first hour he introduced us to numerous segments that were shot prior to the day's events. The segments that were shown were Sean and Catherine on a road trip to their new home in Dallas, Sean and Catherine with Sean's parents, Catherine talking to her wedding planner, Catherine looking for her dress, Sean shopping for lingerie, Catherine talking about her dirty pictures that she is giving Sean for a wedding gift, and finally Sean giving Catherine the beautiful gift of lingerie. That's a lot, but stay with me.
Now the road trip to Dallas was full of "What is this girl talking about?" moments. Catherine is the typical girl who will not shut up, and Sean is the typical guy who tunes her out. In the car, Catherine describes to her soon to be hubby that she wants the wedding theme to be, and I quote, "grown sexy." It is then that Sean, along with the rest of America asked, "What does grown sexy mean?" Catherine never really answered that question, but proceeded to explain how she wants the color coconut in her wedding. Yes people, coconut is now its own color.
While at the original Lowe residence, the happy couple talked to Sean's dad about the ceremony in which he will be officiating. Nothing crazy happened. Just, you know, typical boring in-law talk.
Now during both of these segments, on the lower left of the screen, producers provided a live feed of wedding guests mingling. It was there that we saw Trista and Ryan, Ashley and JP, Des and Chris and other fan favorites all hanging out. Then, all of the sudden, we did not see the people anymore, but rather a bed. The producers gave a live feed of the honeymoon suite which they appropriately called, "The honeymoon suite cam." Only in the world of The Bachelor would something like that seem like a good idea in a pitch meeting. We all know they are going to do the nasty for the first time, and producers wanted you to see just where all the naughty activity would be going down. It got to a point that left me thinking, "Are they going to tie in an X-rated version of The Bachelor?" Hey, that franchise is always looking to expand the brand. I never underestimate them.
Cut to Catherine talking to her wedding planner in which she tells her all about her "grown sexy" theme. God bless the wedding planner that was able to crack that code. She sat there kind of dumb founded but nodded along to what Catherine had to say. Also they mentioned here how Catherine and Sean will not be having sex until the wedding night. Because that is a topic that should be covered with your wedding planner ladies. Then Catherine talked to Sean on a rock, while wearing a scarf and Nike trainers, to tell him all about meeting with the wedding planner. He then asked again what "grown sexy" means and Catherine just laughed. She tired to tell him how it was like, "a mature sexy." When Sean asked her to give him an example of this Catherine said, "Robin Thick. He is grown sexy." There you have it. Then they talked about how excited they were for their wedding night. It was equivalent to two teenagers talking about losing their virginity prom night.
Catherine searching for a dress was a really nice toned down segment of the wedding special. All of the dresses she tried on were gorgeous and all Catherine wanted was a dress that would make Sean happy. Honey, the man is already ecstatic. He will be getting laid for the first time in a long time that night. You could be wearing a trash bag and he would be happy. It was a nice moment seeing her mom, Sean's mom, and her maid of honor helping her decide what dress to wear.
The next stop before the big day for Sean was to get his soon to be wife some nice clothes. And by nice clothes I mean dirty lingerie. Sean is the typical shy southern boy who just wants to run out of the store as soon as he walked in. The girl working at the store asked Sean what size Catherine is and all he said was, "She's a very chesty woman." The girl then handed him some lingerie that does not leave much to the imagination. He continued to laugh nervously and as he touches the bras said, "I don't want to come off like a perv." Remember those scenes in a few 80s movies where the younger brother somehow manages to steal a girls bra? He becomes infatuated with it and stares at it all the time, that was Sean during this entire trip.
Then, the winner of all the comments Sean said on the trip to the lingerie store was this one. The girl handed Sean basically a piece of fabric and he said, "Yeah, easy access to the bottom." Sean shopping for lingerie was like watching a car accident- you wanted to look away, but you wanted to see just how uncomfortable he would get. To make the trip easier he should have just asked the sales girl where the "grown sexy" section of the store was. You know Catherine is all about the "grown sexy." Sean left the store with his naughty purchase in hand, and then proceeded to click his heels. At this point no one wants him to get laid more then myself. This guy needs to be a man again.
The two then have a nice chat with Chris Harrison where they talk about what they love about each other, and what they are looking forward to when it comes to the wedding night. That question had already been answered 25 times during this wedding special, but sure Chris Harrison ask for the 26th time. Sean pokes fun at the fact that it probably won't last long, but Catherine says that she is patient and she's okay with that. Yes everyone, these are the conversations that were happening. We are all now fully aware that Sean is confident in preforming. Chris Harrison then jokes about having a "morning after" interview with the two. Harrison, stop. Do not give producers any more ideas on how to drag this one out.
Remember the lingerie that Sean picked out for Catherine? He was able to wrap it up nicely and give it to her for a present. Spoiler alert: Catherine loved it. She called the lingerie, and I quote, "fancy icing for my body." Seriously this girl has an awful way with explaining her thoughts. Sean then told Catherine that she would be accepting "his rose" the night of wedding. You will never look at the roses on The Bachelor the same ever again.
Skip ahead to the moment we all have been waiting for. The wedding took place just after sunset in Santa Barbra California at the Four Seasons Biltmore. The wedding atmosphere was very "grown sexy", or at least I finally came to the conclusion that it was. Sean took to the front with his dad and the wedding procession began. The bridesmaids wore beautiful soft pink dresses, and the groomsmen were extremely attractive in their classic black tuxes.
Catherine walked down the aisle to music that was not your average wedding march. It was a kind of sound I can't really put my finger on, but it was really cool. They had two cellists preforming all of the music and all I have to say is this-I had no idea that cellists can be that hot! The two then said their "I do's", Sean's dad said a prayer, and then Chris Harrison stepped in to throw it to commercial. Yes, Chris Harrison was introducing the breaks in the ceremony. It was ridiculous. The commercial break ended and the two gave their vows. Catherine said things like, "love sprinkles" and "you were like the light to my bug." This girl just has a way with words let me tell you. Sean on the other hand gave beautiful vows that made us all melt. The two exchanged rings and then they were announced Mr. and Mrs. Sean Lowe.
Leave it to the wedding MC himself Chris Harrison as he talked to JP and Trista after the ceremony. After talking to them briefly, he did a quick send off and the camera panned over all of the wedding guests cheering. It was like watching a grown up fancier version of MTV's spring break coverage.
Despite all of the weird and uncomfortable moments, the "grown sexy" wedding went off without a hitch. The producers pulled off their first ever live wedding. I applaud them for a job well done. Now that Catherine and Sean are husband and wife they can go do the thing they have been waiting to do...have a nice night together and eat some cake.
